During WW1 there were 17 Battalions
1st Bn - In India at outbreak of War - To Mesopotamia
26 Nov 1914 - Taken at Kut al Amara on 29th April
1916 - Battalion reformed on the Tigris out of details
and drafts from the UK on 13th Feb 1916 during siege.
The last cadre left Mesopotamia on 4th March 1919,
In the spring of 1919 No 2 Composite Battalion (HQ
and A Coy Ox & Bucks. B Coy Warwicks, C Coy Devons,
and D Coy Berks ) were formed for service in Russia.
This later became the 1st Ox & Bucks. North Russia
19th May 1919 to 27th Sept 1919. Ireland 2nd Jan 1920
to 1922.
2nd Bn. - France/Flanders 14th Aug. 1914. Ireland
30th July 1919 to 1st July 1920. India April 1922.
3rd Bn - August 1914 - in Oxford. Remained in UK
throughout WW1
1/4th Bn. and 1/1st Bucks. Bn. France/Flanders 30th
March 1915 - Italy 28th NOv. 1917. Austria 1st Nov
1918 - Italy 13th Nov. 1918 to 24th March 1919.
2/4th Bn. France/Flanders 26th May 1916 - Egypt &
Palestine 2nd June 1919 to May 1920.
2/1st Bn. France/Flanders 26th May 1916 - disbanded
in France 22nd Feb 1918.
5th Bn. France/Flanders - 20th May 1915 - reduced
to cadre 27th April 1918 - and to UK 16th June 1918.
6th Bn. France/Flanders - 22nd July 1915 - disbanded
in France 9th Feb. 1918.
7th Bn. France/Flanders - 21st 1915 - Salonika 24th
Nov. 1917. Bulgaria 30 Sept 1918 to 20th April 1919.
- Egypt 26th Apr France/Flanders il 1919 to Sept.
1919.
8th Bn. Pioneers - France/Flanders - 19th Sept 1915
- Salonika 24th Nov. 1917.- Bulgaria Dec 1918 to 24th

2nd Garrison - France/Flanders - Aug 1916 - Became
the 11th Garrison Bn. and finally the 11th Bn. on
31st July 1918.
