92nd Foot or Donegal Light Infantry

The 92nd Foot, or "Donegal Light Infantry" of 1760-3. This corps, 600 strong, was raised  and equipped, entirely at his own expense, and within the short space of four months, by Ralph, Earl of Rose, a brave Irish soldier, who had been distinguished at Fontenoy, where he lost an arm, and at Laffeldt, and who was Commander-in-Chief in Ireland in after years. The 92nd Donegal Light Infantry served in the campaign in Portugal in 1762, and was disbanded at the peace of 1763. The regimental facings were black.
